At the executive level, leaders are revered for their functional or *soft skills* so why are so few women at the top? 

In 2021, there were 41 global women CEOs vs. 459 men. Less than 10%.

At the executive levels, you’re rewarded for having breadth - a wide set of functional skills.

Yet to come even close to management levels, you need deep technical expertise to showcase your competencies.

The developmental curve is uneven at best + soft skills are nurtured in mid to late career levels.

But the truth is, we’re all simply doing the best we can.

I realised that my best was 200% of someone else’s given the number of people senior leaders sent my way to ‘share’ my work + mentor others.

At the best big 4 firm in the world, I was good.

Competitive, exciting, challenging but worth it.
